As Reuters and some other media report, Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. and NBC have reached an agreement over an online joint venture to challenge YouTube. There will be a press conference at 3 p.m. (EST) to confirm this. The plattform will probably work similiar to Google, but has some hundred million potential users as it will become the home-video-site for MySpace, which also belongs to Murdoch. Interestingly enough, other Google-rivals like Yahoo, AOL and Microsoft will also be joining the team – apparently, the new project is going to supply them with its material. Media said the two also wanted Viacom to join, but they refused and instead chose to sue Google. The project could launch as early as this summer.
